LI man accused of multiple bank robberies

LONG ISLAND Authorities say 41-year-old Michael Miller was arrested near his house Tuesday afternoon.

He is now charged with 17 counts of robbery.

The spree reportedly dates back to October 20, 2006.

In the robberies, police say the suspect handed a note demanding money to the teller. Although he threatened in the notes to have a gun, he apparently never displayed one.

Police added he sometimes wore a sweatshirt and baseball cap to disguise his identity.

Surveillance video released from a March 6, 2007, holdup at Roslyn Savings Bank in East Meadow showed the suspect had a receding hair line.

The bandit allegedly hit banks throughout Nassau County, including several in New Hyde Park, Franklin Square and East Meadow.
