Two people have been arrested weeks after a Long Island taxi driver was shot in the face while sitting in his car. The driver was alone in his taxi at a Long Island Rail Road station in Hempstead on May 15 when another car pulled alongside him. Nassau County police say the driver of the car fired at least one shot from a handgun into the taxi before driving away.

A bullet hit the taxi driver in the jaw, causing multiple bone fractures. The taxi driver was hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

An investigation led to the arrests Thursday of a 22-year-old man and a 26-year-old man.

The Hempstead residents were arraigned Saturday. They're charged with attempted murder, criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.
