Police on Long Island say a registered sex offender has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing two boys. Nassau County police say 49-year-old Alfred Balcerak is charged with second-degree sexual abuse.

Detectives say Balcerak has been operating a Bellmore upholstery store since April, and lives at the same address. About a month after opening the store, he is accused of sexually abusing the boys, ages 13 and 14.

Police were notified after the mother of one of the boys saw the defendant's picture on the New York State Sex Offender Registry Web site.

Balcerak was arrested in Long Beach on Sunday.
