Girl killed in possible hit and run

THE BRONX Authorities say the incident happened at 166th Street and Sherman Avenue in the Morissania section.

The 6-year-old was reportedly playing by a hydrant when she was struck and killed. The circumstances surrounding the accident are unclear at this time. One witness says the girl was hit by a tan Sienna that then fled the scene. Another says she was struck by a livery cab. Some witnesses say she was thrown into the street by the force of the water.

That livery cab driver, whether he struck the girl or not, took the child and her mother to Lebanon Hospital. The girl was pronounced dead on arrival.
