Police hunt for violent purse snatcher

New York City police are trying to identify a violent purse snatcher who has struck at least two times on the Upper East Side.Investigators have released a surveillance photo of the suspect.

They say he approached the victims, punched them in the face and fled with their purses.

The first incident happened on 81st Street between Park and Madison avenues on May 26. The victim was a woman in her 50s. Then, on June 2, the suspect robbed a 35-year-old woman at 83rd Street and Third Avenue.

The man is described as a Hispanic male in his early 30s. He is approximately 6-foot-2 with short black hair.
