Power returns in Rockaways; Subway delays continue

QUEENS LIPA had said power was out to a portion of the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens that it serves.

LIPA says there were 60,000 customers affected. There was a problem at the Valley Stream sub-station.

There were also reports of outages as well in southwestern Nassau County.

LIPA says it doesn't know what caused the outages.

The NYC Transit Authority tells Eyewitness News, the power outage is affecting their signals on the A line. There is no service in either direction between the Howard Beach/JFK airport station and the Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue/Rockaway Park Beach-116h St Station.

As an alternate, customers are advised to take the Q21 bus running along Cross Bay Boulevard.
