Officials say the death of a Long Island college freshman at Northwestern University was caused by alcohol intoxication. The Medical Examiner's office, which performed the autopsy on 19-year-old, Matthew S. Sunshine from Cold Spring Harbor, has ruled his death accidental.

Police say Sunshine, who had been drinking on Monday night with some friends, was found dead in his Foster house dorm room at Northwestern on Tuesday morning.

According to a statement from a local police department, the freshman was fine when friends had checked on him during the night. But when a student checked on him around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, he was unresponsive.

The local police department along with University police are investigating the case.

Meanwhile, students prepare for a Thursday night vigil, set for 9:30 p.m., in honor of Sunshine.
