Suspect arrested in Brooklyn school

BROOKLYN The search was prompted by reports that an armed man ran into P.S. 108 at 200 Linwood Street.

Students tell Eyewitness News' Carolina Leid that when they heard the alert on the PA system inside the school, they knew exactly what to do. Some students ran outside and were herded by police into a nearby park.

When police reached the school, authorities immediately initiated a floor-by-floor search for the suspect.

Police say the man was involved in an armed robbery nearby and ran into the school around 1:50 p.m. Wednesday. He was arrested in the school's third-floor bathroom with a loaded weapon.

It did not appear the suspect is a student.

The elementary school, in Cypress Hills, houses 973 K-5 grade students.

Police did not released the name of the suspect, but said the investigation continues.
