Escaped alligator found on pool cover

LAGRANGE Trooper Jason Kelley was the first on the scene and called for the assistance of Sergeant Gerry Salmon, who is a herpatologist.

Salmon was able to capture the alligator, which was taken into custody by Environmental Conservation police officers.

Authorities believe the alligator had escaped from its home at the Two by Two Petting Zoo, also in LaGrange.

The petting zoo owner, Peter Iannucci, failed to notify authorities when the animal, "Andy," escaped on Monday after his cage was damaged by a fallen tree.

Police returned "Andy" to Iannucci, along with a ticket for failing to comply with the terms and condition of their permit.
