Luxury for LESS!

Get the benefits of a sample sale without having to fight the crowds. New Web sites are selling luxury items such as clothing, handbags and jewelery at more than 50 percent off. Editor's Closet is a shopping Web site that sells fashions, most of which are a season old but everything is discounted.

"It's Moschino. The retail was $1700. We're going to sell it for 350," a spokesperson explained.

Sort of like a sample sale on the web, but here's the catch. You've got to be a member to shop. Membership is free. Customers are notified two days before the start of each sale to see what will be available.

Another members-only site is called Gilt. This site sells women's and men's clothing from the "current season" and with prices up to 70 percent off retail.

A more accessories-based site is called Ideeli.

The site offers an area for customers to comment on merchandise. There are also giveaways and a staff of style experts.

Ideeli offers an upgraded membership option. For 8 dollars a month you can get into sales an hour early.

So far these sites have members in the thousands, but supplies are always limited. Depending on the item, there may be only a handful for sale, sometimes way more.
