Police hunt for repair man burglar

TEANECK Authorities say the suspect was caught on a surveillance camera Tuesday during a burglary at a luxury apartment complex.

The victim reportedly told police he found his Willow Street apartment door open and the man still inside.

The man asked the suspect what he was doing, and the intruder replied that he was checking the sink for a clog before pushing the tenant out of the way and rushing out the door.

Authorities say an undetermined amount of jewelry was taken from the apartment.

The suspect is described as around 30 years old and about 5-foot-7 with a shaved head. The victim says he was wearing a dark blue buttoned service uniform shirt with a gold patch above the left breast and white letters on the right.

Residents are urged to keep their doors locked and to contact police if they notice any suspicious individuals around their homes. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Teaneck police at 201-837-2600.
