HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -
The high court issued its first major pronouncement on gun
control in U.S. history on Thursday when it ruled that Americans
have a constitutional right to keep guns in their homes for
self-defense. The decision struck down the District of Columbia's
ban on gun ownership.
No cities in Connecticut have such bans, and the state
constitution already guarantees the right to own guns.
A spokesman for the group Connecticut Against Gun Violence says
its members weren't surprised by the ruling. State legislators say
Connecticut laws won't be affected.
