Pizza owner shot in possible carjacking

A pizzeria owner on Staten Island was shot in a possible carjacking early Monday.Police say the 53-year-old owner was shot in the leg by two masked men who allegedly stole his black Mercedes GLS 500.

Eyewitness News is told this all happened when the man was returning to his Huguenot home around 1:20 a.m.

Sources familiar with the investigation believe the thieves may have intended to rob him, but when they saw he had no cash, they shot him once in the leg.

The victim, who police are not identifying as yet, was taken to SI University Hospital North. His wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.
