Teen girl fights off home invader

GLEN ROCK Police say the man entered the Glen Rock home around 4:30 a.m. through an unlocked rear sliding glass door. He then made his way into the girl's bedroom, where she was sleeping and woke up to terror.

She awakened when she felt the man's hands on her, police said. The attacker allegedly put a sock in her mouth, but she fought back. Police say she bit his thumb and grabbed his hair and face before he began punching her.

The victim, reportedly trained in Karate, used her fighting skills to defend herself, then tried to chase down the intruder.

The struggle ended up on the floor before the man ran down the stairs, through the kitchen and out the same sliding glass door.

The teen's father heard the fighting and called police. When they arrived, they say the odor of alcohol lingered in the girl's room, because her attacker was apparently intoxicated.

The man is described as around 5-foot-10 and wearing a white Quiksilver T-shirt.
