Fierce fire in Elizabeth

A third-alarm fire shot flames through the roof of an Elizabeth apartment building overnight. Eyewitness News is told the fire broke out on the upper floors of the building on Elizabeth Avenue just after 1:30 a.m. this morning. Heavy flames shot through the window and the roof.

Residents reportedly escaped the fierce flames after police officers alerted them to fire. No residents were injured.

Officials say two firefighters sustained minor injuries. The fire investigation closed busy Elizabeth Avenue in downtown Elizabeth.

The building is home to Cinderella's Go-Go Palace on the ground floor and apartments above.
