Report: Feds may reopen Liberty's crown

The federal government is considering reopening the Statue of Liberty's crown for the first time since the Sept. 11 terror attacks. The National Park Service sent out a request for bids last month to study what it would take to open the statue to the public.

Visitors are now limited to the statue's pedestal.

Congressman Anthony Weiner calls the move a breakthrough.

Weiner planned to hold a press conference about the development on Friday, Independence Day.
