FAA probes landing on a closed runway

TETERBORO (AP) - FAA regional spokesman Jim Peters tells the Star-Ledger of Newark that a flight operated by Jet Rider Inc. was allowed to land on June 25 as two workers were preparing to mark the runway with a large "X" sign indicating it was closed.

Peters said the flight was cleared to land shortly after 5:30 a.m., more than a half-hour after Runway 1-19 had been shut down for work.

The jet passed 150 feet above the workers, neither of whom was injured.
