Police say the three-car crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. on the northbound overpass that links McCarter Highway to several other major roads.
Those killed were in a four-door Chevrolet.
An 18-year-old man driving an Acura and a woman driving a Toyota were both treated for their injuries and released from University Hospital in Newark.
The crash is still under investigation.
