Police: Woman raped behind church

Alleged incident took place in Queens
JAMAICA, Queens The 16-year-old girl was jumped by the boxcutter-wielding suspect, near the intersection of Brocher Road and Merrill Street, just after 8 a.m. according to police.

Authorities tell Eyewitness News she was dragged behind the Trinity Lutheran Church of Locust Manor, where she was sexually assaulted.

The girl was said to be grabbed as she was walking to summer school.

Police responded, and the suspect fled through nearby back yards.

The teen victim was taken to the hospital to be treated.

Meanwhile, authorities flew in a police dog from Long Island to search the area, possibly using a piece of clothing found near the scene.

One person was taken into custody, but it was not clear if it was the suspect.

The attack matched a similar sex assault pattern in the area.
