Tanker explodes on NJ Turnpike

Foam has extinguished an overturned tanker that exploded in flames on a New Jersey Turnpike ramp in Woodbridge, N.J. Newscopter-7 was live over the scene.

Eyewitness News is told the vehicle flipped on the exit from the southbound truck lanes, at Interchange 11, just before 7 a.m.

The tanker exploded in flames, sending a thick black plume of smoke that could be seen for miles.

The tanker was reported to be carrying 8,000 gallons of fuel.

Officials say the driver escaped the vehicle with a head and back injury.
