Dog tags belonging to WWII veteran recovered

QUEENS Lorraine Arents says she thought she would never see her father's dog tags again after masked men mugged her and took her purse that held the keepsakes. She says she felt she had lost a piece of her father, who died in 1983.

But on June 6 - the anniversary of D-Day - Port Authority Officer Randal Kraft was inspecting a fence at John F. Kennedy International Airport when he spotted the purse.

He says the bag's zippers were rusted and there was seaweed on it. After finding the dog tags, he called an astonished Arents to tell her they had been found.
