Ballfield battle in Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. - Tucked back into a pathway on Riverside Lane, Justin Currytto and Tim Bellantoni discovered what they thought would be their field of dreams.

It's a wiffleball field carved out of heavy under brush and weeds. For the last month they and their friends have been playing away the summer.

Now, the teenagers find themselves mired in a difference of opinions over their field. Some neighbors are against it.

The neighbors are concerned that removing the vegetation will add to flooding and drainage problems. Still others reportedly are also concerned about noise from the field, which backs up to several houses.

The wiffleball is now in the hands of the first selectman, who will umpire this issue and determine a resolution.

In the meantime, the kids are getting ready for a home run derby in honor of baseball's all star game. The bigger game here is yet to be decided.
