All Star detours on Tuesday

NEW YORK - The parade is a prelude to Tuesday night's All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium.

To relieve traffic congestion, the New York Police Department urges people who are planning to come to the city to use public transportation.

The procession will take place between 12:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Sixth Avenue from West 40th Street to West 58th Street.

Three traffic lanes on the West side of Sixth Avenue will be closed starting 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, with the entire avenue closed at approximately 11 a.m.

The Metropolitcan Transportation Authority also announced several bus routes will also be diverted because of the procession.

Uptown-bound M5, M6, M7 and BxM2 will run on Eighth Avenue instead of Sixth Avenue, making corresponding street stops on Eighth Avenue.

Crosstown QM1, QM1A, QM2, QM2A, QM3, QM4, QM15, QM16, QM17, QM18, QM10, QM12 and QM22 buses will stop at Madison Avenue instead of Sixth Avenue.
