Police search for suspect in cop stabbing

CHELSEA The house was surrounded by police just before 2:30 p.m. this afternoon.

They were searching for a suspect in the stabbing of an off-duty housing officer, attacked by three men who harassed him after leaving a club in Chelsea this morning. Police didn't find anyone in the search.

The 25-year-old rookie was stabbed in the abdomen near the intersection of 10th Avenue and West 28th Street just after 3 a.m.

He was treated at St. Vincent's Hospital and released hours later.

The housing officer, assigned to PSA 2 in Brooklyn, was attacked after leaving the nearby club Home with four women.

The group was followed by three men, who were harassing them with catcalls, according to police.

Authorities say, the off-duty officer asked them to stop, and words were exchanged.

He was jumped by one of the three men and stabbed during an altercation.

The there men then fled the scene in a white 2009 Toyota Camry, registered to an address in Washington Heights.

Authorities were searching for the car in Washington Heights and Brooklyn.
