Shark pulled from Zach's Bay

ZACH'S BAY A half-hour earlier, around 1:30 Friday afternoon, the shark was spotted by swimmers in Zach's Bay.

The shark was a baby thresher with a three-foot body and a three-foot tail. Officials believe it was the same shark that prompted officials to close the same beach on Thursday.

The shark was taken to an area of Jones Beach. Officials planned to release the shark miles from shore into the Atlantic Ocean.

Lifeguards allowed people back into the water about 3:30 p.m. Friday.

One woman who became ill in the water when the shark was spotted was treated at the scene.
