Construction is expected to get underway soon for a roof-top ice skating rink on top of a Queens building. The ground-breaking for the City Ice Pavilion was scheduled for Thursday, and the rink is expected to open its doors to the public in October.

The project's developer says the rink will be covered by an air dome for protection from the winter weather. The facility will offer ice skating lessons for both ice hockey and figure skating, as well as public skating sessions.
