Child nearly drowns in Staten Island pool

STATEN ISLAND The victim was found in the large pool at the South Shore Swimming Club at 6736 Hylan Boulevard just before 2:30 p.m. this afternoon.

She was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital North, where she was admitted.

Authorities used a police motorcade to get the child to the hospital.

The pool was immediately cleared, and worried swimmers stood on the side as lifeguards looked at the water.

A police patrol car blocked traffic at the front gate of the private swim club.
