Man goes on deadly rampage on Long Island

On Long Island, a man remains in the hospital this morning, badly wounded, after trying to help his coworker. Her ex-boyfriend went on a deadly rampage on Friday before turning the gun on himself. The gunfire broke out inside the the Aflac Insurance office on Sycamore Avenue, near Veterans Highway, in Bohemia just before 1:30 p.m.

The gunman shot his ex-girlfriend and another a co-worker who came to her aid, police said.

The target of the gunman was identified as Tiana Stokley, 20, of 34 Peeker Ave., Mastic Beach. She died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Her ex-boyfriend, William Lynch, 37, of 730 Doane Ave., Bellport killed himself, police said.

The co-worker was identified as Gary Destefano. He was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center where he underwent surgery. Destefano also suffered multiple gunshot wounds. His condition is unknown.

Investigators said Lynch was wanted by police since Monday for violating an Order of Protection held by Stokely.

Aflac spokeswoman Laura Kane offered the company's sympathies but provided no further details.
