Man stabbed in midtown Manhattan

NEW YORK Police say the 43-year-old man was stabbed in the torso at the intersection of West 28th Street and Broadway just before 2 p.m.

He was rushed to Bellevue Medical Center in stable condition.

The suspect, who apparently was attempting to rob the victim, may have fled into the nearby 28th Street Station, according to authorities.

A large number of police quickly descended on the subway station. Subway service was delayed for a time while police investigated.
