Arrest made in NJ hit and run

7-year-old remains critical
JERSEY CITY The suspect was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon in the crash last night that left Jabari Cooley in critical condition.

Cooley, who will be 7 years old in October, was near his home at Grant and Ocean avenues when he was stuck by a 1991 Accura, which dragged him more than 70 feet before fleeing the scene.

The car was found nearby, at the intersection of Arlington and Carteret avenues.

Police also quickly found the owner, who was not driving at the time of the collision.

Cooley is in University Hospital in Newark in critical condition, with massive trauma to his head and body.

Witnesses said the boy was bleeding heavily and that the car was speeding. ---
