Long Island beaches reopen

LONG ISLAND The Nassau County Department of health closed nearly two-dozen beaches the past couple of days because of high bacterial levels from storm water runoff.

But, they are now all reopen.

The following 21 beaches to reopen, effective today, July 25, 2008:

All 17 Nassau County North Shore Beaches:

  • Bar Beach
  • Centre Island Bay
  • Centre Island Sound
  • Creek Club
  • Crescent Beach
  • Lattingtown Beach
  • Laurel Hollow Beach
  • Morgan Sound
  • Piping Rock Beach Club
  • Pyrbil Beach
  • Ransom Beach
  • Roosevelt Beach
  • Sea Cliff Village Beach
  • Soundside Beach
  • Stehli Beach
  • Tappen Beach
  • West Harbor Beach

    and

    On the South Shore in Nassau County:

  • Biltmore Beach Club Beach
  • Hewlett Point Beach
  • Island Park Beach
  • Phillip Healey Beach
  • Long Island officials closed the beaches as a precaution after heavy rain pummeled the New York metropolitan area this week.
