Missing 10-year-old washes up on beach

NEW YORK (AP) - A spokeswoman for the New York City medical examiner, Ellen Borakove, says an autopsy is being done to confirm the cause of Akira Johnson's death.

The youngster was swept out to sea Saturday while swimming with her cousin.

Authorities previously recovered the bodies of two other people who died in strong currents: 19-year-old Osama Shafeeq, who had been swimming off a Long Island beach; and Devon Flanders, who was swept away Friday at Jacob Riis Park.
