Springsteen-delaying tanker cleared

Traffic is moving again at Interchange 16W on the New Jersey Turnpike in East Rutherford. An overturned tanker carrying propane forced officials to close the ramp around 12:30 Thursday afternoon. The shutdown delayed the start of the Bruce Springsteen concert at Giants Stadium and led to a nine-mile backup as concert fans and commuters converged on the area.

Turnpike Authority spokesman Joe Orlando says officials waited to remove the tanker because of safety concerns.

Orlando says the tanker kept slipping as they tried to right it.

They finally removed the wreckage around 4:45 Friday morning.

Traffic is heavy on Route 3.
