Authorities say a single-engine plane has crashed into a house in northwest Oregon, injuring three people and prompting a search for three children. The plane hit the house in the coastal town of Gearhart before 7 a.m.

Gearhart City Administrator Dennis McNally says a vacationing family was in the house.

He says in a statement that an adult and two children have been taken to the hospital.

He says it appears the plane first hit a tree and then the house. He says an explosion was reported to have followed the crash by about 20 seconds. A second house was reported to be damaged.
