Manhunt for sexual predator

NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. - She was taken from a parking lot in broad daylight in Wallkill over the weekend.

The 36-year-old victim was returning some videos to the Blockbuster along Route 211 around 1:30 in the afternoon.

Police released a preliminary sketch of the suspect. They said she did not see him coming.

"He approached from the rear, pulled a hunting knife on her," Capt. Wayne Olsen explained.

Feeling that she had no choice but to obey, she drove the suspect around for what she said seemed like an eternity.

"He said calm, but he was direct with her. He tried initially to reassure her that she was not going to be hurt," Olsen said.

He had other plans, ordering her to stop in a secluded area in Hamptonburgh where he sexually assaulted and robbed her. He took $40 and her cell phone.

Three-and-a-half hours after leaving the Blockbuster, he left the victim's car. Police believe they spotted him near Little Britain Grange No. 913, a restaurant in New Windsor. When they approached, he ran off into the woods.

Police said the suspect has short salt and pepper curly hair and a mustache. He has a red tattoo on his left forearm. They believe he is between 40 and 45 years old. Police said he was last seen wearing a blue New York Yankees jacket with the word Justice on the back.
