Boy, 9, shot in the head in Brooklyn

Police are still carrying out a massive search for the gunman who shot a young boy in the head in Brooklyn. The boy remains in critical condition -- wounded after someone fired into a crowd of kids. An intense manhunt was underway for the gunman who opened fire into a crowd of children gathered at 1670 Pacific Street shortly after 9:00 p.m.

According to police, 9-year-old boy ShamShawan Kelly was standing with a group of four or five other children.

The suspect, who was riding a bicycle, fired a gun at the children, police said, hitting the boy in the head.

Police recovered the suspect's bicycle at the scene.

The boy was taken to Kings County Hospital. He is still listed in critical condition this morning.

Witnesses did not believe the boy was the targeted.
