A homeless man was found murdered in front of a Sikh temple in the Richmond Hill section of Queens. The man was discovered dead in front of 95-30 118 Street this morning. He had been either shot or beaten to death.

Neighbors gathered on the street in disbelief after the murder of a man who once was one of them.

His body was found in a pool of blood, his facial features barely recognizable. Investigators say he had been beaten with a broomstick and stabbed to death.

Crime scene investigators found the splintered broomstick broken in thee pieces.

The neighborhood is predominately Indian. The victim was murdered outside a Sikh temple.

The victim was a man who was once a practicing Sikh who became a heavy drinker and no longer wore his turban, neighbors said.

He was also one of several homeless men offered free meals by the worshippers.

Police removed a section of the sidewalk with a bloody shoeprint. Sources said the victim had been harassed by teenagers in recent weeks, which may or may not be a coincidence.
