Teenager accused of shooting cabbie

FORT GREENE The man remains in critical condition after taking a bullet to the face early Thursday morning.

Police have their suspect and are awaiting arraignment at criminal court.

Its a 19-year-old girl who police say pulled out a gun and shot a cab driver two miles into the drive, then ran off.

The cab driver, 62-year-old Enois Malbranche begged and screamed for help Thursday after being shot one time in the face.

Police say it happened after picking up a group of teenage girls in Fort Green.

After several days of looking for suspects, police arrested a 19-year-old Brooklyn girl named April Pierce.

A girl police say was in the cab with two other female friends when she allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Malbranche. Police believe the girls were trying to rob the cab driver.

The brazen crime has cabbies all over the city concerned about their safety and witnesses replaying the incident in their minds.

It's believed the cab driver will survive, but may lose his vision in both eyes.

He worked for Utica Taxi Company.
