Man posing as mailman robs home

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. - Nassau County police say the man was dressed as a letter carrier and carrying a package when he pulled a gun on the homeowner and forced his way into the East Meadow home Thursday afternoon.

The man handcuffed the mother and forced her and her 6-and 10-year-old daughters into a bathroom at gunpoint. He told them that he was a police officer and wanted to know where the valuables were kept.

Police say a second man watched the mother and children as the first man ransacked the house. Both men fled with items including a laptop computer.

The first suspect is described as a black man approximately 25 years old, 5'10", 230 pounds, wearing a light blue shirt and gray pants, black sneakers (resembling a Postal uniform), and a baseball cap with brown bandana underneath.

The second suspect is described as a black man approximately 21 years old, 5'7", spoke with a Jamaican accent, clean shaven, with short dreadlocks, gold cap tooth, wearing a black tank top, baggy blue jeans and orange work boots.

Detectives ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-tIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
