A man was arrested Saturday after police say he choked his roommate to death in Queens. Rami Hawana, 22, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 38-year-old Rae Chisolm.

The incident happened on 124th Street in South Ozone Park. Authorities say Chisolm returned to the apartment to retrieve his belongings after being away for several weeks.

According to the Daily News, Chisolm found the locks were changed and was let in by Hawana and two other roommates.

The newspaper reports that a fight broke out because the roommates believed Chisolm had stolen their rent money. Police say Hawana strangled Chisolm to death during the fight.

A neighbor told the Daily News that Chisolm was a decent and friendly guy who once worked as a car salesman.
