Expired baby food in stores in Bronx

NEW YORK All you have to do is look for it, and we did.

Our intern Andrew went to several local stores and what he found on shelves was in some cases disturbing.

In the Bronx, at the Coninental Corp Deli and Grocery, a can of Beech Nut Chicken Noodle dinner, the expiration date was Feb. 24th of 2005.

The manager denied having the bottle on his shelf but Eyewitness News obtained the original handwritten receipt.

At the Las Flores Mini Market, not far away was outdated baby food. Some bottles were from 2007. Some with mold forming at the bottom.

Eyewitness News also found several other stores with similar problems.

In some cases price tags were even used to cover up the expired expiration dates.

If you find expired food, you should contact the State Department of Agriculture at 1-800-554-4501.
