The Coast Guard says a husband and wife had to dive for safety after a boat rammed into their dinghy on Long Island Sound. The agency says the couple was fishing from the dinghy when a 22-foot boat sped toward it around 10:20 a.m. Saturday. The vessels were near the Stepping Stones Light, off Kings Point.

The husband and wife managed to jump just before the other boat smashed into them. A Coast Guard crew was already in the area, saw the crash and quickly fished the two from the water.

They were taken to a hospital, suffering from possible hypothermia and shock. The two people on the larger boat weren't hurt.
