Bloomberg denies term limit rumors

NEW YORK The mayor says he has no plans to call for lifting term limits so he can run again.

There has been growing speculation Bloomberg was interested in another term, but he insists that's not the case.

Bloomberg said that he supports term limits and is not actively trying to overturn them, although he gave himself some latitude in his answer.

"I always thought term limits were a good idea," he told reporters. "Whether two terms or three terms is something you could debate."

But he quickly added, "I am not trying to overturn term limits."

He also refused to confirm or deny whether he had held private meetings with the publishers of New York's largest circulation newspapers to discuss the issue, saying, "private meetings are private."
