A woman was killed and three others hospitalized -- including two teenage brothers -- in a crash on a troubled stretch of Merrick Avenue in East Meadow. Police say speed could possibly be the cause. Police and neighbors say Merrick Avenue is no stranger to accidents.

The 55-year-old woman was turning left into traffic when a car with three teenagers, possibly speeding slammed into her.

Neighbors say mobs of people came running to the victim's red Audi to try to help her.

Neighbors from even two blocks away say they could hear screams on impact.

"I could hear the bang and I could hear the scream and that was it," neighbor Jerry Goldman said.

By the time people got to the vehicle last night to help it was too late. Nancy Adler, 55 died in her seat belt partially draped over the driver's side window.

Police collecting evidence on the scene say the victim was turning left from a stop sign on Luddington Road when a blue Acura with three teenagers in it collided with her vehicle as she turned onto the busy Merrick avenue.

The 13-year-old was in critical condition at Nassau University Medical Center with four broken ribs and fractures. He cannot breathe on his own, his father Ibrahim Jaghad said. The other brother had serious injuries too.

"My 16-year-old was in the front, the younger one was in the back and when they flipped, they ended up on each other," said Jaghad.

He also said that his son touched his hand when he asked him if he could hear him from the hospital. Again, he is fighting for his life.

The driver, 26-year-old Syed Shah of Uniondale was injured also. The three were getting ice cream at the time of the crash.
