A frightening situation at Bronx Community College unfolded Thursday night. A gunman burst into a cafeteria, locked several workers in a room, and stole thousands of dollars, police said.

The bandit remained on the loose early Friday.

The cafeteria was closed at the time of the robbery. Six workers were cleaning up for the day when the gunman walked into the cafeteria around 7:00. He ordered all of them into a back room.

Investigators described the suspect as an Hispanic man dressed all in black, including a black hooded sweatshirt.

Police said the suspect locked the workers inside the room, and then fled. He got away with $12,000.

The workers were not injured.
