LIRR service restored after brush fire

The Long Island Rail Road briefly suspended service on part of three commuter lines due to a brush fire on Long Island. A LIRR spokesman says a brush fire in the area of the Carle Place station was reported at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The brush fire caused the commuter railroad to suspend service in both directions on the main line from Mineola to Hicksville and has stalled service on the Ronkonkoma, Huntington/Port Jefferson and Oyster Bay branches.

Service resumed just before 4:30 p.m.
