Designer moves fashion week online

Fashion week takes place at the tents in Bryant Park, but one designer has decided to do away with a live show. Many runway shows take place at other venues throughout the city because the show has gotten so big.

One designer is now using technology to give everyone a front row seat to see his spring line.

The actual show takes place at a studio in Soho. There's no audience here because this show is going virtual.

Marc Bouwer is known for his evening wear. His gowns that go for thousands, but in this economy such luxuries may take a hit.

So this fall, Bouwer is bypassing the Bryant Park tents in part because with as many as 40 shows a day, there's no guarantee fashion editors would even make it to his show.

"It doesn't make sense to spend all that money on a one shot deal," he said.

You can see the show on www.marcbouwer.com starting Monday, September 8 at 12:00 p.m.
