A New Jersey police officer is home from the hospital Monday after an accident that killed her partner.Belleville officer Melissa Corrado was treated for serious head and rib injuries. Friends say she is now coping with the death of 33-year-old officer Kenneth Santucci, who died in the crash in Nutley Saturday morning.

Santucci and Corrado were in their police cruiser, responding to a suspicious persons call, when it was struck by a car. Santucci, who was driving, then lost control of the cruiser and it hit a utility pole, ejecting both officers. He died a short time later at Clara Maass Medical Center.

The other driver, identified only as a 51-year-old Bloomfield woman, wasn't seriously injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
