The ex-wife of former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey says she has decided to drop a fraud claim in which she alleged the gay man duped her into marriage to advance his political career.Dina Matos issued a statement Wednesday saying she needs to end the case for the good of their 6-year-old daughter, Jacqueline.

McGreevey also issued a statement through his lawyer saying the claim had been withdrawn and describing it as a failed attempt to secure more money in the couple's divorce settlement.

McGreevey resigned as governor in 2004 after declaring himself "a gay American" and his marriage quickly unraveled. He acknowledged an affair with a male staffer; the staffer denied the affair and said the governor sexually harassed him.
