JFK-bound plane overshoots runway

CHICAGO The Federal Aviation Administration and the airline say no injuries have been reported in the Monday afternoon incident.

They say the plane came to rest with its wheels on a grassy area off the runway.

FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory says American flight 268 was en route from Seattle-Tacoma in Washington state to New York's JFK International Airport when a cockpit indicator light alerted pilots to a problem.

The plane was diverted to O'Hare and landed at 1:42 p.m.

The plane blew a tire while making its landing at O'Hare.
